As a student at Faith Christian School, I have experienced a wide variety of opportunities that this school has to offer. From teachers who recognize their students as brothers and sisters in Christ to coaches who prepare me to grow in my character and values, to faculty who work hard every day to make this school a better place; I have seen many people represent what Faith stands for on display. They have demonstrated the key elements that Christ set forth in His word for us to follow, including love, nobility, and a strong character. This exceptional example that the teachers have set makes this school a place where students can grow in their academics but, more importantly, in their faith.
As a student at FCS, I have been blessed to have mentors and coaches who have pushed me forward, allowing me to grow and expand in my knowledge, wisdom, memory, and comprehension. I have learned how to think critically and always find something to appreciate in what I may not always enjoy. I have learned that you don’t have to agree with someone to find value in what they say. Learning this has prepared me to meet the outside world. There will be people proclaiming things that we don’t agree with, but we can still listen to them and understand where they are coming from.
One thing that I have taken away from my years at FCS is something from Mr. Hodges’ History Community code statement: “Just because you listen to someone’s point of view doesn’t mean you are obligated to believe it.” This shows that we can read, listen, and interact with people who do not share our same views. This means that whether we are reading something important or something satirical, we can always find something valuable from what we are learning. FCS has been monumental in my growth as an ambassador of Christ’s kingdom to all peoples of all nations. It has taught me what it means to be the light of the world, the salt of the earth, and a holy priesthood of God’s presence here on earth.
