DR 2025 Day 3

Worship and Fellowship – Day 3

Today was a beautiful day filled with worship, fellowship, and preparation as we witnessed God’s ongoing work here in Cielo.

Our morning began at a church just around the corner from Mission Emanuel, Iglesia Evangelica El Cielo. The congregation had been expecting us and welcomed us with open arms and warm hearts. During the service, we sang worship songs familiar from home, accompanied by lyrics in both Spanish and English. The worship was lively and filled with joy—children as young as five and eight brought their own plastic drum and guitar, joining the worship band with uninhibited enthusiasm. The genuine joy and heartfelt worship were incredible to experience.

An interpreter was present for the announcements and sermon, helping us feel included and deeply connected to their community. After the service, we were greeted with hugs, handshakes, and heartfelt connections—a tangible blessing of unity and love in Christ.

Later, one of Mission Emanuel’s leaders, Alexi, invited the similar aged youth from the church to spend time with us at the mission. Alexi led everyone in icebreaker activities and games, which was such a delight to witness. The laughter and connection between us transcended language barriers, beautifully illustrating how God’s love unites us all.

After enjoying a delicious lunch at the mission, we spent the afternoon exploring the historical section of Santo Domingo on a colonial tour. A knowledgeable guide led us through the area, sharing captivating insights into its rich history.

God’s presence continues to shine in countless ways. Last night, during our devotional time, Mrs. Tartaglia shared the beloved Footprints poem. Then, in today’s church service, the pastor’s message also touched on themes of footprints, God’s guidance, and being rooted—themes we’ve been discussing and plan to incorporate into our VBS curriculum. It is evident that the Lord has gone before us, weaving His plans through every detail.

Tomorrow, we are excited to launch VBS with 122 eager first- through third-graders! We’ve been preparing by learning Spanish songs, creating crafts, and planning how to share the gospel message in meaningful ways. In the afternoon, the boys will continue with construction work, while the girls will help deliver meals to women and families in the community, supporting another vital aspect of Mission Emanuel’s ministry here in Cielo.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Please pray specifically for the children we’ll meet tomorrow—that the seeds of faith will take root—and for us, that we may serve with joy and love.
