DR 2025 Day 2

Incredible Service – Day 2

Our first full day of service, and what an incredible day it has been!

We began the morning with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before heading to Mission Emanuel to gather supplies for today’s project. Together, we worked on building the foundation of a home for a family here in the Dominican Republic. Their testimony is truly inspiring—you can read all about them HERE. While the house won’t be completed today, we know we are part of the bigger picture. Each group builds on the progress of the ones before, much like planting and watering seeds. Sometimes we don’t get to see the final result, but we are honored to play a role in something so much greater. We will continue to pray for the construction of this home and for the family as future teams continue the work.

Today, we had the privilege of meeting the mother of this family in which we are building. As a group, we laid hands on her and prayed over her, which was an incredibly moving experience. We also met a neighbor who had recently broken her arm and took the opportunity to pray for her as well—another chance to share God’s love and care.

Later in the day, we visited a local store called Jumbo (similar to Walmart) for a special mission. Thanks to the generosity of a donor, we had the privilege of blessing a local woman who fosters 20 children. Mission Emanuel provided us with the names and clothing sizes of each child, and we divided into teams to shop for clothing and gifts for each one—and for the mother herself.

Our students had a wonderful time and were intentional in selecting thoughtful items for each family member. It was pure joy to work together and bring a little light into their lives. To make the gifts even more meaningful, the students packed the bags and included handmade Christmas cards created by the Spanish I and II classes.

Throughout the day, we’ve experienced several “God moments” that have deeply touched us all. In a surprising small-world moment, we even ran into Dr. Linda Peterson, a familiar face to many of us at Faith Christian School. Her family used to live in the Lake Geneva area, where her children attended FCS. She, too, was here on a mission with another ministry—another beautiful reminder of God’s connection and community at work!

Each night, the team gathered in the corner suite to process the day. We shared how we saw God working, what surprised us, and moments we felt unprepared for. Most importantly, we reflected on how, even as we sought to bless others, our own lives were being richly blessed in return. These times together have been deeply meaningful and have brought us closer as a team.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Please keep praying for the family we are serving, the foster family, and for God to continue working through and in us this week. He is so good, and we are humbled and blessed to be His hands and feet here.
